CLIR and DLF would like to provide an update on our approach to health protocols for this year’s DLF Forum and affiliated events.
Last year in Baltimore, we issued a number of health protocols related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the requirement that all attendees wear high-quality masks and presenters and facilitators wear clear face masks or shields. We made these requirements a part of our Code of Conduct, and we were so pleased that compliance from the DLF community was very high.
We are actively working with our community volunteer Pandemic Landscape Review Committee on protocols for this year’s events as we continue to monitor the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on conferences and other large events. We anticipate releasing guidance before early bird registration closes in mid August and final, concrete health protocols in by early October, one month out from the events.
For now, at a minimum, CLIR can commit to:
- Making our events mask-friendly, meaning anyone who wants to wear a mask will be welcome to do so, no questions asked;
- Having masks, tests, and sanitizer available at the registration desk for anyone who needs them;
- Communicating promptly and transparently if we learn of a positive test at one of our conferences; and
- Working with hotel staff to ensure session rooms setups are distanced as much as possible.
